WEATHERTEK 680

LIQUID APPLIED POLYURETHANE WATERPROOFING MEMBRANE

Weathertek 680 is a premium, single-component, liquid-applied polyurethane waterproofing membrane designed to provide a seamless and highly elastic protective barrier against water ingress. Ideal for flat roofs, roof decks, balconies, wet areas, and other leak-prone surfaces, Weathertek 680 cures to form a tough, flexible membrane that resists cracking, ponding water, and harsh weather exposure. Engineered for industrial and commercial waterproofing projects, it offers long-term performance, even under extreme Philippine climate conditions.

Product Overview

Weathertek 680 Liquid Applied Polyurethane Waterproofing Membrane is formulated for high-performance waterproofing in demanding construction and infrastructure environments. With its easy-to-apply, brushable or rollable formulation, it ensures a continuous, joint-free membrane that conforms to complex shapes and penetrations. It provides excellent adhesion over concrete, cementitious screeds, and primed substrates, effectively preventing water leaks and structural damage.

Key Features:

  • Seamless, joint-free waterproofing membrane

  • Excellent crack-bridging and flexibility

  • Long-term UV resistance and weather durability

  • Suitable for horizontal and vertical applications

  • Compatible with a wide range of substrates including concrete and masonry

  • Withstands ponding water and harsh environmental exposure

  • Fast curing and easy application with roller or brush

  • Resistant to mold and mildew growth

  • Ideal for use in tropical and high-rainfall areas like the Philippines

Typical Applications:

  • Roof decks

  • Podium decks

  • Balconies and terraces

  • Toilets, bathrooms, kitchens

  • Waterproofing under tiles

  • Protective waterproof layer beneath screeds or finishes

Application Guide

Surface Preparation:

  • Ensure that all surfaces are clean, dry, and free from dust, grease, oil, laitance, and any loose material.

  • Remove all contaminants using appropriate cleaning methods such as grinding, sweeping, or high-pressure air.

  • All cracks, voids, and surface defects must be repaired prior to primer and membrane application.

  • Deep holes or damaged sections should be patched or leveled using a compatible repair mortar.

Priming:

  • Apply Coatguard 116 Epoxy Sealer as a primer to enhance adhesion and prevent outgassing.

  • Allow the primer to fully dry before proceeding. The surface must be clean and dust-free before applying Weathertek 680.

Membrane Application:

  • Stir the product gently before use to achieve uniform consistency.

  • Apply the first coat of Weathertek 680 using a brush or roller at the recommended film thickness.

  • Pay close attention to edges, corners, joints, and penetrations. Reinforce with polyester fabric if necessary.

  • Allow the first coat to dry (typically 6–8 hours depending on humidity and temperature).

  • Apply a second coat in a perpendicular direction to the first to ensure full coverage and thickness.

  • Total recommended dry film thickness is 1.2–1.5 mm for standard applications. Heavier duty installations may require an additional coat.

  • Avoid application if rain is expected within 12 hours of coating.

Curing Time:

  • Touch dry: 6–8 hours

  • Recoat: after 8 hours

  • Full cure: 5–7 days

Safety and Handling:

  • Use appropriate PPE (gloves, goggles, respirator) during application.

  • Ensure adequate ventilation during and after application, especially in enclosed spaces.

  • Store in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and open flames.

System Use

System Composition

1st Layer – Primer:
Coatguard 116 Epoxy Sealer Primer
A deep-penetrating two-component epoxy primer that enhances adhesion and seals porous concrete. This primer prepares the surface for effective waterproofing by preventing moisture migration and ensuring substrate stability.

2nd & 3rd Layer – Waterproofing Membrane:
Weathertek 680 Liquid-Applied Polyurethane Waterproofing Membrane
Applied in two coats, this liquid-applied, flexible membrane creates a seamless waterproof barrier that adapts to structural movement. Ideal for protecting horizontal surfaces like roof decks and balconies from long-term water ingress.

4th & 5th Layer – Topcoat:
Polimaster 400 Polyurethane Topcoat
A two-component, UV-resistant aliphatic polyurethane coating applied in two layers for optimal protection against weathering, UV rays, and traffic. Offers long-lasting durability and a clean finish, making it ideal for exposed concrete areas.

Best Uses:

  • Roof decks and terraces

  • Balconies and exterior walkways

  • Concrete areas exposed to rain and sunlight

  • Waterproofing systems requiring flexibility and durability
